Lady Wolverines go 1-2 in Allegheny Region play
GROVE CITY, PA, March 9, 2002--The Grove City College women's water polo team posted its first victory of the season Saturday night, defeating visiting Penn State Behrend College, 10-4, in Allegheny Region round-robin play at the College Pool.
Senior Adrienne Hill (Portville, NY/Portville Central) buried six goals in the win, giving her a team-high 15 on the season. Sophomore Katie Flaherty (Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) contributed two goals, while sophomore Jessica Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek) and junior Lisa Gregor (Pittsburgh, PA/Trinity Christian) chipped in a goal apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Julie Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek) secured the victory with five saves and assisted on one of the Lady Wolverine tallies.
Grove City dropped two games earlier in the day to a pair of Division I schools. Sophomore Tammy Hamsher (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) and Jessica Zedaker each scored two goals in a 17-4 loss to Indiana University. The University of Michigan dealt GCC a 19-3 defeat with Hill accounting for two goals and Hamsher adding one.
The Lady Wolverines are now 1-6 overall.
