Lady Wolverines beat W&J, go 1-2 on Day One at IU

BLOOMINGTON, IN, April 6, 2002— Sophomore Tammy Hamsher (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) netted five goals Saturday as the Grove City College women's water polo team went 1-2 on the first day of the Collegiate Water Polo Association Weekend at Indiana University's Counsilman-Billinglsey Aquatics Center in Bloomington, IN.

Hamsher netted the hat trick in a 6-5 victory over arch-rival Washington & Jefferson College.  The Lady Wolverines had won just one of seven all-time meetings against the Presidents entering the match.  Senior Adrienne Hill (Portville, NY/Portville Central) contributed two goals in the win, while sophomore Katie Flaherty (Suffield, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) added one.

Hamsher also accounted for both Grove City tallies in a 12-2 loss to Gannon earlier in the day.

In the nightcap, junior Lisa Gregor (Pittsburgh, PA/Trinity Christian) fired in a pair of goals in a 9-2 loss to Slippery Rock University.

The Lady Wolverines, now 2-9 overall, will close the weekend at IU on Sunday.
