Lady Wolverines edge Mercyhurst

GROVE CITY, PA, April 12, 2002—Four Lady Wolverines scored at least two goals to lift the Grove City women's water polo team past Mercyhurst in the first game of the Grove City College Invitational Friday evening at the College Pool.

Sophomore Jessica Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek) fired in five goals while classmate Tammy Hamsher (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) scored four times. Katie Flaherty (Suffield, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) tallied three goals while senior Adrienne Hill (Portville, NY/Portville Central) scored twice.

In goal, Julie Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek) stopped 20 shots for Grove City (3-10). She also collected three steals as did Hamsher.

In other action Friday, Gannon downed Washington and Jefferson, 13-1, Bucknell defeated Penn State Behrend, 16-5, and Slippery Rock recorded a 14-3 victory over Mercyhurst.

Grove City begins Saturday's 10-game schedule by hosting Behrend at 8:30 a.m. The Lady Wolverines will also play W&J at 2 p.m. and Gannon at 7:30.
