Lady Wolverines place sixth at nationals

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, May 5, 2002—Senior Adrienne Hill (Portville, NY/Portville Central) and sophomore Jessica Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek) posted two goals and two steals apiece, but the Grove City College women's water polo team fell to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 8-5, in the fifth-place game of the Collegiate III National Championships, held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center on Sunday.

The sixth-seeded Lady Wolverines settled for a sixth-place finish at the eight-team championship.  They placed seventh at nationals last season.

Sophomore Tammy Hamsher (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) chipped in with a goal against MIT, giving her 11 total at the three-day event.

Sophomore goalkeeper Julie Zedaker (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek), who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, stopped 11 of 19 shots and recorded one steal for the Lady Wolverines, who closed the season 8-17 overall.
