Lady Wolverines win pair on Saturday at Behrend

ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo rolled to a pair of victories at the Penn State Behrend Invitational Saturday, defeating Indiana University of Pennsylvania 13-3 and then downing Grand Valley State (Mich.) 12-5.

Against IUP, junior Tammy Hamsher (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored three goals while freshmen Jaclyn Bellissimo (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) and Lauren Schade (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) both scored twice. In all, 10 different Lady Wolverines scored goals.

Junior Jessica Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) collected seven steals in one half of action while junior Julie Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) had four assists. Grove City (3-10) held IUP to just 11 shots.

Grove City then picked up its second victory of the day by defeating Grand Valley State. Hamsher fired in six goals for Grove City while Jessica Zedaker had 10 steals and six assists. Zedaker, senior Lisa Gregor (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian), sophomore Chelsea Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Northwest), senior Abby Sakowski (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights), senior Deb Schow (Hanson, Mass./Whitman-Hanson) and junior Katie Flaherty (Suffield, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) all scored single goals. Sakowski also had two assists.

The Lady Wolverines opened the competition with a 15-0 setback against Gannon Friday night.

Grove City will look to extend its win streak to three against Ohio University Sunday morning.
