Grove City drops two in Washington

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team fell to 7-19 with a pair of setbacks at Washington and Jefferson College Tuesday night. The Lady Wolverines fell to Slippery Rock 8-3 before dropping an 11-6 verdict to host Washington and Jefferson.

Junior Katie Flaherty (Suffield, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) fired in three goals against Washington and Jefferson while juniors Jessica Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) and Tammy Hamsher (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each scored once, as did senior Abby Sakowski (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights). Zedaker added six steals while Hamsher had four thefts.

Freshman Lauren Schade (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) assisted on two of the goals.

In the opener against The Rock, Zedaker scored twice and chalked up five steals while Hamsher scored Grove City's other goal. Flaherty made four steals while senior Sarah Grabowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Perry Traditional Academy) added two steals.

In goal, junior Julie Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) stopped 12 shots and added an assist.
