Grove City drops two at Southern Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Championships at Bucknell University.

Grove City fell to Division I Villanova 12-3 in the first game of the day, then dropped a 7-6 verdict to Penn State Behrend.

Against Villanova, junior Jessica Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) scored a pair of goals for Grove City (7-21) while sophomore Audrey Slayton (Casteau, Belgium/Shape American) added the Lady Wolverines' other tally. Zedaker also had five steals while senior Sarah Grabowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Perry Traditional Academy) recorded an assist.

Junior Tammy Hamsher (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) also had two steals. In goal, junior Julie Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) stopped eight shots. 

Hamsher scored three times against Behrend while Jessica Zedaker scored twice and added four steals. Katie Flaherty (Suffield, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) added a goal and three steals. Julie Zedaker stopped 11 shots.

Grove City will play Mercyhurst at 12:45 Sunday afternoon.
