Grove City rebounds with win over Mercyhurst
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- After dropping their first three matches over the weekend, the Grove City College women's water polo team rebounded with a 9-5 victory over Mercyhurst at the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Championships at Bucknell University Sunday afternoon.
Junior Jessica Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) rifled in three goals while freshman Lauren Schade (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) and junior Tammy Hamsher (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each scored twice. Hamsher also had six steals for Grove City (8-22).
Junior Katie Flaherty (Suffield, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) and senior Lisa Gregor (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) each scored also. Zedaker also dished out a pair of assists and recorded seven steals while Flaherty made three thefts. Senior Sarah Grabowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Perry Traditional Academy) had two assists, as did goalkeeper Julie Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek).
Julie Zedaker stopped 14 of 19 shots to record the victory.
