Lady Wolverines drop two at D-III Nationals

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped a pair of games Friday at the Collegiate III Women's Water Polo National Championships at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in pool play.

Eighth-seeded Grove City opened the tournament with a 13-1 loss to No. 4 UC-Santa Cruz , as Grove City (8-25) fell behind 8-0 by halftime. Junior Tammy Hamsher (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored Grove City's lone goal while junior goalie Julie Zedaker (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) stopped six shots.

Grove City then dropped a 13-1 decision to top-seeded Redlands as Hamsher accounted for Grove City's lone goal. Zedaker stopped eight shots.

Saturday, Grove City will face Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the pool play finale. MIT is also 0-2 in pool play. The Lady Wolverines will also play Saturday evening against an undetermined opponent.
