Grove City drops two

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team fell to 0-3 Saturday with losses to Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst at Slippery Rock University's Hunkler Shootout. Mercyhurst handed Grove City a 13-2 loss. The Wolverines then lost to Slippery Rock 14-1.

Sophomore Caitlin Ewing (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) and freshman Jennifer Johnston (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon) each scored for the Wolverines against Mercyhurst. Junior Lauren Schade (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) and freshman goalkeeper Keala Walter (Newburg, Ore./Newburg) each had two steals and an assists. Walter stopped 17 shots.

Ewing scored Grove City's lone goal against The Rock. Cecelia Larsen had the assist while Virginia Larsen tallied three steals. Schade had four thefts. Walter stopped 19 shots.

Grove City visits Slippery Rock March 4.
