Presidents nip Grove City, 8-6

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped an 8-6 decision to host Washington and Jefferson Wednesday night in Collegiate Water Polo Association Western Division play at the Henry Memorial Center.

Grove City (4-9, 0-5 CWPA West) took a 4-2 lead in the first period and held that lead through halftime. Washington and Jefferson trimmed the lead to 5-4 entering the fourth period before pulling out the win.

Sophomore Caitlin Ewing (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) fired in five goals for the Wolverines and assisted on a goal from sophomore Virginia Larsen (Seattle, Wash./Tacoma Baptist). Junior Lauren Schade (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny), junior Cecelia Larsen (Seattle, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) and Virginia Larsen all had one assist.

Ewing also had three steals while freshman goalkeeper Keala Walter (Newburg, Ore./Newburg) stopped 14 shots.

Grove City returns to action Saturday afternoon at Gannon in CWPA divisional play. The match starts at 2:30 p.m.
