Grove City earns two wins

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team earned two wins Saturday in the Grove City Invitational at the Grove City College Pool. Grove City picked up a 10-4 win over Indiana, Pa. Saturday morning, then secured a 6-4 victory over Connecticut College.

In the Wolverines' third match of the night, Grove City (6-13) owned a 3-2 lead against Division II Slippery Rock before dropping a 7-4 decision.

Sophomores Virginia Larsen (Seattle, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) and Caitlin Ewing (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) each scored three goals for the Wolverines against IUP, while Meghan Kincaid (Eagle River, Alaska/Homeschooled), Lauren Schade (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny), Caroline Walker (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) and Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled) all scored once.

In goal freshman Keala Walter (Newburg, Ore./Newburg) stopped five IUP shots.

Schade scored three goals in the Wolverines' win over Connecticut College Saturday afternoon. Virginia Larsen scored twice while Ewing added a goal. Cecelia Larsen and Ewing both had two assists while Magee, Schade, Walter and Cecelia Larsen all had a pair of steals. Schade also blocked two shots. Walter stopped 14 of 18 shots.

Against The Rock, Ewing fired in three goals while Schade also scored once. Virginia Larsen, Schade and Jennifer Johnson (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon) all had one assist. Cecelia Larsen recorded five steals while Schade blocked two shots. Walter recorded 12 saves.

Grove City will host the CWPA Western Division Championships next Friday and Saturday.
