SRU tops Grove City, 10-3

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team fell to 0-3 in Collegiate Water Polo Association Western Division play Thursday night with a 10-3 loss to visiting Slippery Rock University.

Grove City (1-7 overall) trailed just 2-1 after the first period but The Rock broke the match open with four second-period goals. Senior Lauren Schade (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny), junior Caitlin Ewing (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) and freshman Liza McRuer (Irvine, Calif./University) each scored once for the Wolverines.

Schade, senior Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled) and freshman Kristen Kerchner (West Lake Village, Calif./West Lake) each had one assist. Schade and McRuer each had four steals while sophomore goalkeeper Keala Walter (Newberg, Ore./Newberg) had three thefts. Walter stopped seven shots in goal.

Grove City will host the Grove City Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The Wolverines will play Queens (N.Y.) Friday at 7:15 p.m.
