Grove City completes hat trick against W&J

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team improved to 9-12 overall and 2-5 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association's Western Division Tuesday night with an 8-4 win over visiting Washington and Jefferson (5-13, 1-6) at the Grove City College Pool.

It is Grove City's third win against the Presidents this season. Ten days ago, Grove City defeated the Presidents twice at the Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational en route to the tournament championship.

Grove City broke a 3-3 tie in the final minute of the first half as junior Virginia Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) scored the second of her three goals on the night. Grove City put the match away with a pair of goals in both the third and fourth periods.

Larsen and junior Caitlin Ewing (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) each scored three times for the Wolverines while senior Lauren Schade (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) and freshman Liza McRuer (Irvine, Calif./University) both scored once.

Grove City will enter the CWPA Western Division Championships April 22-23 in Bloomington, Ind. as the No. 6 seed.
