Wolverines improve to 2-0 in Western Division

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Freshman Jane Wilson (Newberg, Ore./Veritas School) fired in four goals in her collegiate debut Friday night, helping lift Grove City to an 11-5 victory over Washington & Jefferson in Collegiate Water Polo Association Western Division action at the Henry Memorial Center.

Freshman Amanda Thompson (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored twice and tied a Grove City single-game record with five assists in Friday night's win. Sophomore Kristen Kerchner (West Lake Village, Calif./West Lake) also scored twice for the Wolverines (6-12, 2-0 Western Division).

Senior Caitlin Ewing (Grafton, Wis./Grafton), sophomore Liza McRuer (Irvine, Calif./University) and freshman Kate Stiebler (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) all scored once. McRuer posted four steals while Stiebler tied a Grove City record with three blocked shots. In goal, junior Keala Walter (Keaau, Hawaii/Newberg, Ore.) stopped 11 shots.

Grove City broke the game open in the fourth quarter by scoring the final four goals.

Grove City will host Michigan Saturday at 11 a.m. in Western Division action. The Wolverines also host Indiana at 7 p.m.
