Grove City rolls The Rock, 4-0

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Senior goalkeeper Keala Walter (Keaau, Hawaii/Newberg, Ore.) stopped all seven shots faced while junior Liza McRuer (Irvine, Calif./University) scored twice as the Grove City College women's water polo team earned a 4-0 victory over Slippery Rock Sunday in the seventh-place game at the ECAC Invitational, hosted by Bucknell Invitational.

Grove City, which entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed, also received goals from sophomores Kate Stiebler (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Amanda Thompson (Erie, Pa./McDowell). Stiebler also assisted on both McRuer goals while sophomore Liz Juncker (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) assisted Stiebler's score.

Stiebler also paced the Grove City defense with a career-high seven steals and three blocked shots. Freshman Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) recorded five steals while McRuer had four thefts. Thompson posted three steals.

Grove City (2-4) will open CWPA Western Division play Friday night at Mercyhurst at 7 p.m.
