Grove City drops two at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped a pair of decisions against NCAA Division I opposition Saturday at the University of Michigan Invitational. Grove City (6-7) opened the day with a 14-1 setback against host Michigan. Marist then picked up a 16-2 win over Grove City in Saturday's second match.

Senior Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) fired in Grove City's lone goal against Michigan. Freshman Kristi Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) helped pace the defense with five steals. In goal, sophomore Ashley Sammons (Santee, Calif./Santana) stopped eight shots.

Lauren Baur scored once and also assisted on a goal by sophomore Amanda Johnston (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) against Marist. Sammons stopped five shots.

Grove City will face Siena and Gannon Sunday at Michigan.
