Grove City drops two

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped a pair of matches Saturday afternoon in California Lutheran University's Posada Royale Invitational. Grove City dropped a hard-fought 9-6 decision to Chapman in Saturday's first match. The Wolverines then fell to Occidental in Saturday's nightcap, 10-5.

Sophomore Kristi Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and freshman Lauren Hulsebus (Belmont, Mich./Rockford) both scored twice for Grove City against Chapman. Seniors Chelsea Johnson (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and Andrea Wilson (Newberg, Ore./Veritas) each scored once. Wilson assisted two goals and Hulsebus posted one assist.

Defensively, Wilson recorded a team-high four steals. Junior Amanda Johnston (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) chalked up a season-high 12 saves in goal.

Johnson and freshman Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) both had two goals against Occidental while Baur scored once. Wilson had two assists. Hulsebus and senior Amy Fleming (Annandale, Va./Annandale) both added one assist.

Hulsebus and Johnston both recorded three steals. Johnston stopped seven shots.

The Wolverines (1-5) will conclude their California trip Sunday at 11 a.m. Eastern against Cal Tech.
