Grove City tops Behrend

ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team improved to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III play Thursday night with a 7-1 win over league foe Penn State Behrend at the Junker Center.

Five different Grove City players scored in the win. Sophomore Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) fired in three goals for the Wolverines while junior Kristi Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), sophomore Lauren Hulsebus (Belmont, Mich./Rockford) senior Amanda Johnston (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) and freshman Ashley Parks (Westerville, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) all scored once.

Baur and Hulsebus each assisted two goals and junior Lauren Burrows (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) added one assist.

Defensively, Hinkle recorded six steals, Parks had four thefts and Hulsebus tallied three steals. Johnston stopped three shots in goal. Hinkle played the fourth quarter in goal and stopped two shots.

Grove City will compete in the University of Michigan Invitational this weekend in Ann Arbor. Grove City opens play Saturday at 8:45 a.m. against Mercyhurst.
