Wolverines honored by CWPA

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) honored two Grove City players over the weekend in recognition of their respective performances during the 2014 season.

The CWPA named junior Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) to the Division III First Team. Freshman Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) earned Second Team All-Division III recognition from the CWPA.

Hinkle earned First Team honors for the second consecutive season after firing in a team-high 89 goals this year. The 89 goals are the second-most in program history, trailing only the 90 goals scored by Chelsea Johnson in 2011. Hinkle also distributed 22 assists this season.

Hinkle ranks fourth all-time at Grove City with 176 career goals. She ranks third with 96 career assists.

Jank recorded 25 goals and 20 assists this year in her first season at Grove City. She led the team's newcomers in both categories.

Both players also earned All-Tournament honors this weekend at the CWPA Division III Championships in St. Paul, Minn. Hinkle received First Team honors and Jank landed on the Second Team after helping the Wolverines to a 2-1 mark in the tournament. Hinkle scored 13 goals in three matches while Jank tallied six goals, three assists and a dozen steals.

The Wolverines went 8-5 during the regular season in CWPA Division III play and then finished fifth in the CWPA Championships. Grove City went 11-11 overall, marking the seventh straight season in which the Wolverines finished at or above the .500 mark.
