Grove City holds off Behrend

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team improved to 4-1 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III conference play Thursday night by pulling out a 13-12 win over visiting Penn State Behrend at the James E. Longnecker Pool.

Grove City led 11-7 entering the fourth period and withstood Behrend's comeback attempt.

Four Grove City players posted multi-goal efforts Thursday night. Junior Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) fired in five goals for Grove City and sophomore Ashley Parks (Westerville, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) registered four goals. Senior Lauren Burrows (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) and sophomore Ashley Henderson (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Christian) both scored twice.

Parks also assisted on three goals while Burrows had two assists. Henderson and Hinkle each had one assist.

Defensively, Hinkle and sophomore Kira Okray (Bloomfield, Mich./Detroit Country Day) each had six steals. Freshman goaltender Mary Frank (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) stopped eight shots.

Grove City (5-5 overall) returns to action March 28-30 with a series of CWPA Division III matches in Washington, Pa.
