Gannon tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team closed its home schedule Tuesday night with a 15-7 setback against visiting Gannon in the James E. Longnecker Pool.

Junior Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) and sophomore Ashley Parks (Westerville, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) both scored three times for Grove City (9-10) while freshman Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) added a goal.

Parks also assisted two goals while Hinkle and sophomore Ashley Henderson (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Christian) each tallied one assist.

Hinkle led the defense with five steals while Jank had four thefts. Henderson chipped in three steals. In goal, freshman Mary Frank (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) stopped six shots.

Grove City will compete in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships this weekend in St. Paul, Minn. The Wolverines are the No. 4 seed and will face fifth-seeded Macalester, the host program, in the quarterfinals Saturday morning.
