Grove City closes with win

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team wrapped up the 2014 season Sunday afternoon by rolling to a 13-4 victory over Utica in the fifth-place match of the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships, hosted by Macalester College.

Junior Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) fired in six goals to lead Grove City (11-11) while sophomore Ashley Parks (Westerville, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) scored three times.

Sophomore Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) added two goals. Senior Lauren Burrows (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) and sophomore Kira Okray (Bloomfield, Mich./Detroit Country Day) also scored in the win.

Sophomore Ashley Henderson (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Christian) recorded a team-high three assists. Burrows, Jank, Parks and freshman Mary Frank (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) all had one assist each.

Jank led the defense with five steals while Hinkle had four steals. Henderson and Parks both had three thefts. Hinkle also blocked three shots. Frank stopped seven shots in goal.

Grove City will lose Burrows to graduation. The 2014 season is the sixth straight year in which Grove City has finished at or above .500.
