GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped a 14-3 decision to Washington & Jefferson in their season and Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III opener on Friday night in the James E. Longnecker Competition Pool.

The Wolverines (0-1, 0-1 CWPA DIII) were outscored 5-0 in the first quarter and trailed 9-1 at halftime. Grove City's defense improved in the second half, but the offense couldn't overcome the early deficit.

Freshman Maggie Blume (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) scored her first collegiate goal for the Wolverines while senior Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) and sophomore Grace Klimek (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) each added goals in the second half. Hinkle and junior Ashley Henderson (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Christian) each added an assist.

Sophomore goalie Mary Frank (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) recorded 12 saves in goal.

Grove City returns to action with a pair of matches tomorrow. The Wolverines will host Penn State Behrend in CWPA action at 11 a.m. before traveling to W&J for a 7:30 p.m. match.
