Grove City tops Behrend

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team earned its first victory of the 2015 season by rolling to a 17-5 victory Saturday afternoon over visiting Penn State Behrend in Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III action at the James E. Longnecker Pool. Grove City (1-1, 1-1 CWPA Division III) led 5-2 after the first period and then pushed its lead to 10-2 by halftime.

Senior Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) fired in six goals for the Wolverines while junior Ashley Parks (Westerville, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and sophomore Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) each pumped in three goals.

Freshman Maggie Blume (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) scored twice in the win. Freshman Brynna Bartlett (Olive Branch, Miss./St. George's), junior Ashley Henderson (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Christian) and junior Kira Okray (Bloomfield, Mich./Detroit Country Day) all added goals.

Henderson and Hinkle both assisted four goals each while Jank tallied three assists. Blume had a pair of assists and Parks added one assist.

Defensively, Jank led Grove City with seven steals. Sophomore Mary Frank (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) stopped nine shots in goal.

Grove City will visit conference foe Washington & Jefferson at 7:30 Saturday night. The Wolverines will visit Behrend in league action Sunday at 11 a.m.
