Hinkle named CWPA DIII Scholar-Athlete of the Year

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Recent Grove City College graduate and water polo standout Jocelyn Hinkle (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton) has been selected as the 2015 Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

The highest honor bestowed by the league to an active player, matched only by the induction of a former player to the CWPA Hall of Fame, the award recognizes an outstanding senior student-athlete who has achieved success in both the scholastic (3.25 or higher cumulative grade point average) and athletic arenas while possessing a spirit which provides service to the community.

Hinkle, a recent graduate of the College with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, earned CWPA Division III First Team honors three times during her career. In late June, she became the 12th All-American in program history and the first since 2012 when she was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches.

In 2015, the then-senior utility posted team-highs with 61 goals, 32 assists and 90 steals while starting all 18 games to lead the Wolverines to a fourth-place finish at the CWPA D-III Championships.

Hinkle finished her career as Grove City's all-time leader with 128 assists while ranking second in program history with 237 goals and third with 273 steals.
