Grove City drops home opener

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team opened its home schedule Thursday night by dropping a 10-6 decision to visiting Gannon at James E. Longnecker Pool.

Junior Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), senior Ashley Parks (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) and freshman Abby Spicher (Erie, Pa./McDowell) each scored a pair of goals for the Wolverines. Sophomore Maggie Blume (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) recorded an assist.

Defensively, freshman Sonni Kiefer (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) recorded a team-high four steals. In goal, junior Mary Frank (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) stopped nine shots.

Grove City (0-4) returns to action March 11-12 for Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III action at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. The Wolverines will play five conference matches that weekend.
