Grove City now 3-2

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team moved to 3-2 in Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III play Saturday by splitting a pair of conference matches at Carthage College. Grove City opened the day with a 12-8 win over Macalester. The Wolverines closed the weekend with an 11-7 setback against Connecticut College.

Three Grove City players posted multi-goal efforts in the win over Macalester. Junior Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington) pumped in four goals while sophomore Maggie Blume (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) scored three times. Senior Ashley Henderson (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Christian) added a pair of goals.

Senior Ashley Parks (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), sophomore Brynna Bartlett (Olive Branch, Miss./St. George's) and freshman Abby Spicher (Erie, Pa./McDowell) all scored once.

Henderson also had a team-high three assists. Parks and freshman Sonni Kiefer (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) had two assists each while Jank recorded one assist.

Henderson and Blume both collected three steals. In goal, junior Mary Frank (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) made nine saves and also assisted one goal.

Six Wolverines scored against Connecticut College. Spicher scored twice while Blume, Jank, Kiefer, Parks and junior Grace Klimek (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) all scored once. Henderson assisted three goals while Blume, Parks and Spicher had one assist.

Jank collected four steals while Frank made five saves.

Grove City (3-6 overall) will visit Gannon in non-conference play March 31.
