W&J tops Grove City

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's water polo team dropped to 6-5 in Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III play Friday night by falling at Washington & Jefferson (11-0 CWPA), 15-3, in the Henry Memorial Center's pool.

Freshman Abby Spicher (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored twice for Grove City while sophomore Brynna Bartlett (Olive Branch, Miss./St. George's) also scored. Junior Abby Jank (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) assisted two goals.

Defensively, Jank recorded four steals while Bartlett had three takeaways. Spicher blocked two shots.

In goal, junior Grace Klimek (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) and freshman Heidi Schmidt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) each made one save. Bartlett also played in goal.

Grove City (6-11 overall) will host Penn State Behrend at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in conference play. The Wolverines will then play W&J at 7:30 in James E. Longnecker Pool.
