Grove City women earn regional ranking

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Grove City College women's cross country team has been ranked ninth in the latest NCAA Division III Mideast Regional poll, as released Tuesday morning by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Under the direction of 11th-year head coach Sean Severson, the Wolverines competed at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational on Saturday, recording an eighth-place overall finish after placing 12th in both the long and short-course portions. Junior standout Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) won the six-kilometer long-course race by 33 seconds with a time of 22:31.39, her third individual title in as many races.

The regional ranking is the first for the Grove City women since October 30, 2012, when the Wolverines were also ranked ninth in the final USTFCCCA Mideast Region poll prior to NCAA regional competition. Grove City would go on to match that ranking with a ninth-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships at Big Spring High School.

Grove City returns to action on Saturday, October 18 at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble. Competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
