GCC cruises to invitational title

SOUTH EUCLID, OH, September 15, 2001--The Grove City College women's cross country team won the team championship at Saturday's Notre Dame College Invitational, posting four of the top five times in South Euclid, OH.

The Lady Wolverines finished with 21 points, defeating runner-up Westminster College (53), third-place Cuyahoga Community College (83) and fourth-place Thiel College (100).

Grove City senior Lara Pratt (Solon, OH/Solon) contended for the individual championship, placing three seconds behind Westminster's Desiree Henry, who won the meet with a time of 19:50.  Pratt placed second in the field of 44 in 19:53.  Senior Charity Pefferman (New Martinsville, WV/Magnolia), senior Jessica Davenport (State College, PA/State College) and freshman Jana Sallade (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) placed third through fifth, respectivley, with times of 20:02, 20:10 and 20:11.  Freshman Katherine Muse (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) took seventh overall in 20:55, while junior Morgan Kiper (Hamilton, OH/Talawanda) placed eighth in 21:02.  Freshman Cara Williams (Glen Campbell, PA/Punxsutawney) added an 11th-place finish in 21:43.
