Lady Wolverines run down 13th straight PAC title

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA, October 27, 2001--Seven Lady Wolverines posted Top-10 finishes as Grove City College cruised to its 13th consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference women's cross country title with a perfect score Saturday at Shamrock Golf Course in Slippery Rock, PA.

Lady Wolverine freshman Janna Sallade (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) overcame flurries, mud and a wind chill in the 20s, to place first overall and win league MVP honors with a time of 20:15.  

Grove City filled places two through five, as well, completing a clean sweep of the PAC First Team.  Senior Charity Pefferman (New Martinsville, WV/Magnolia) placed second overall, 15 seconds back in 20:30.  Senior Laura Pratt (Solon, OH/Solon) crossed third in 20:36, junior Morgan Kiper (Hamilton, OH/Talwanda) took fourth in 21:07 and senior Jessica Davenport (State College, PA/State College) finished fifth in 21:18.

Earning spots on the PAC Second Team were GCC freshmen Katherine Muse (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) and Cara Williams (Glen Campbell, PA/Punxsutawney), who placed eigth and ninth, respectively, with times of 22:11 and 22:17.

Grove City's 15 team points were 55 better than runner-up Thiel College, who posted a score of 70.  Waynesburg College took third with 73 points and Washington & Jefferson finished fourth with 84 points.  Bethany College did not field a complete team.
