GCC women place ninth at NCAA regionals

BETHLEHEM, PA, November 10, 2001--Grove City College senior Laura Pratt (Solon, OH/Solon) placed 30th at the 2001 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional on Saturday as the Lady Wolverines finished ninth in the field of 34 teams at Lehigh University.

Pratt's team-best time of 19:26.50 earned her a spot on the All-Mideast Region Team, which comprises the top 35 runners.

Senior Charity Pefferman (New Martinsville, WV/Magnolia) placed 39th in the field of 235 with a time of 19:39.97.  Senior Jessica Davenport (State College, PA/State College) also broke the 20-minute barrier, crossing in 53rd place in 19:58.89.

Freshman Jana Sallade (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) finished 62nd overall with a time of 20:10.35, while junior Morgan Kiper (Hamilton, OH/Talawanda) rounded out the team's scoring with an 86th-place time of 20:33.09.

Freshmen Katherine Muse (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) and Cara Williams (Glen Campbell, PA/Punxsutawney) finished just outside the top half, placing126th and 130th, respectively, with times of 21:12.84 and 21:16.89.

Grove City totaled 263 points, finishing behind regional champion Moravian (27), Dickinson (68), Haverford (85), Allegheny (132), Messiah (162), Susquehanna (191), Gettysburg (209) and Swarthmore (259).
