Grove City women win Behrend championship

ERIE -- Three Grove City College runners finished in the top five, allowing the Lady Wolverines to take first place at the seven-team Penn State Behrend Cross Country Invitational Saturday in Erie.

Freshman Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) recorded her first collegiate win, breaking the tape in 19:17. Sophomore Katherine Muse (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) posted a career-best third-place finish, completing the course in 20:01, while sophomore Janna Sallade (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) took fifth, finishing in 20:03.

Also for Grove City, Theresa Miller (Landisville, Ohio/Lancaster Mennonite) finished ninth in 20:35 and Lydia Navatsyk (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) rounded out Grove City's first five in 17th place (21:18).

The Lady Wolverines earned 35 team points, holding off runner-up Geneva (48).
