GCC women win conference championship

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Freshman Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) won the individual title while the Grove City College women's cross country team took the overall championship at the Presidents' Athletic Conference women's cross country championships Saturday at Washington and Jefferson College.

The Lady Wolverines rolled to the team title, collecting a mere 20 team points. Bethany finished second with 66 points. 

Pedersen won the race in a time of 25:26.93 while Janna Sallade (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) finished second in 25:41.45. Overall, four Grove City runners finished in the top five as Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) took fourth in 26:42.29 and Katherine Muse (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) was fifth in 26:43.88.

Katie Lewis (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering) claimed eighth, posting a time of 27:31.13 while Deb Bruno (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) finished 11th in 28:09.37. Cara Williams (Glen Campbell, Pa./Punxsutawney) finished 20th in a time of 29:35.63

Pedersen, Sallade, Miller and Muse earned First Team recognition from the conference while Lewis and Bruno were named to the Second Team.
