Sallade earns NCAA bid as Lady Wolverines finish 9th

SALISBURY, Md. -- Sophomore Janna Sallade (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) placed 11th at the NCAA Mideast Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday at Salisbury University, earning a trip to next weekend's national championships in Northfield, Minn.

Sallade's performance helped Grove City finish ninth in the 34-team field, accumulating 294 team points. Dickinson won the team title with 53 points. 

Sallade's time of 21:45.92 placed her 11th in the 237-runner field. The top seven runners in the field that were not guaranteed berths by finishing on one of the top two teams earned bids to the NCAA championships. Sallade earned the final qualifying spot.

Teammate Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) took 13th place in 21:47.57 while Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) placed 67th in a time of 23:15.53. Katherine Muse (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) finished the 6-kilometer course in 23:27.54, good for 78th.

The NCAA Championships will be hosted by St. Olaf College next Saturday.
