Pedersen places 2nd as Grove City takes 6th at CMU
PITTSBURGH -- Led by a runner-up finish from sophomore Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery), the Grove City College women's cross country team finished sixth of 15 at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational Saturday at Schenley Park.
Grove City earned 156 team points to take sixth. Allegheny won with 19 points while Penn State Behrend finished second with 82 points.
Pedersen posted a personal-best time of 18:29 on the five-kilometer course to earn second place, one second behind Allegheny's Leigh Ciofani.
Also for Grove City, freshman Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) turned in a personal-best time of 20:31 to take 22nd while junior Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) finished 34th in 21:13. Sophomore Megan Skarada (Clarion, Pa./Clarion-Limestone) established a new personal-best with an outing of 21:32, good for 41st place.
The Lady Wolverines return to action next Friday afternoon at the California University of Pa. Invitational.
