Wolverines take 5th at CWRU Classic

CLEVELAND -- The Grove City College women's cross country team opened the 2004 season with a fifth-place finish at the nine-team Case Western Reserve Bill Sudeck Classic Saturday morning.

The Wolverines finished behind Allegheny (31), Baldwin-Wallace (76), Mount Union (92) and John Carroll (95).

Junior Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) led Grove City with an eighth-place finish, covering the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 48 seconds. Sophomore Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) took 22nd in 20:39 while freshman Kylie Mackaness (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) finished 35th in a time of 21:24.

Freshman Adrienne Sharp (Mountaintop, Pa./Danville) finished 40th (21:37) while senior Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) took 47th (22:04). Grove City returns to action next Saturday at the Allegheny Invitational in Meadville.
