Pedersen leads Grove City to team title

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Seven Grove City runners placed in the top 14 Saturday as the Wolverines captured the team title at the seven-team Allegheny Invitational with 31 team points.

Junior Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) won the individual title with a time of 23 minutes, 21 seconds. Sophomore Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) finished third in 24:34 while freshman Rachael Smith (Columbia, Md./Hammond) finished eighth in 25:38.

Senior Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) placed ninth (25:49), one spot ahead of freshman Adrienne Sharp (Mountaintop, Pa./Danville), who turned in a time of 25:52. Freshman Kylie Mackaness (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) took 12th in 26:07 while sophomore Alex Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) finished 14th in 26:21.

Allegheny took second with 46 points while Carnegie Mellon placed third with 62 points.
