Pedersen takes 3rd as Grove City finishes 4th

CANTON, Ohio -- Junior Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) finished third at the Malone Invitational Friday afternoon, helping the Grove City College women's cross country team take fourth at the eight-team Malone Invitational.

Pedersen was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the 88-runner field, turning in a time of 19 minutes, 35.7 seconds. Sophomore Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) took 20th place in 21:05 while freshman Rachael Smith (Columbia, Md./Hammond) placed 31st in 21:32.65.

Also for Grove City, freshman Kylie Mackaness (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) took 36th in 21:49, one spot ahead of senior Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite), who turned in a time of 21:51. Sophomore Alex Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) finished 38th (21:54).

Malone won the team title with 20 total points. Geneva took second while Mount Union was third.

Grove City will compete in the Lehigh Paul Short Invitational next Saturday.
