Wolverines take 5th at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's cross country team placed fifth out of nine NCAA Division II and III teams in the 31st annual Lehigh University Paul Short Run Saturday morning.

Grove City accumulated 126 team points, trailing The College of New Jersey (62 points), Kutztown (68), Christopher Newport (101) and Swarthmore (124).

Junior Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) led the Wolverines with a third-place finish in the 66-runner field, turning in a time of 22 minutes, 44 seconds. Sophomore Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) finished 22nd in 24:04 while senior Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) placed 27th in 24:21.

Also for the Wolverines, freshman Kylie Mackaness (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) took 39th in 24:55 while freshman Adrienne Sharp (Mountaintop, Pa./Danville) finished 41st (24:58). Sophomore Alex Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) placed 42nd, nine seconds behind Sharp.

Grove City returns to action October 9 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
