Wolverines earn 4th at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- Led by a second-place finish from junior Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery), the Grove City College women's cross country team took fourth out of 14 teams at the Wilmington College Invitational Friday afternoon.

The Wolverines earned 109 points, trailing only Otterbein (57), Anderson (81) and Division II Northern Kentucky (106).

Pedersen covered the five-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 22 seconds, good for runner-up honors. Sophomore Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) joined Pedersen in the top 20 with a 16th-place finish (20:22). Senior Theresa Miller (Landisville, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) finished 30th in 20:53, one spot ahead of sophomore Alex Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East), who posted a time of 20:55.

Freshman Rachael Smith (Columbia, Md./Hammond) finished 34th in 21:03 while classmate Amanda Hewitt (Greensburg, Pa./Latrobe) came home 35th in 21:08.

Grove City returns to action Oct. 30 as the Wolverines will compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships at Bethany College.
