Grove City wins CWRU Sudeck Classic

CLEVELAND -- The Grove City College women's cross country team won the Case Western Reserve University Bill Sudeck Classic Saturday afternoon.

Grove City placed five runners in the top 14 in accumulating just 41 team points. Host CWRU took second with 78 points while Mount Union took third with 94.

Senior NCAA All-American Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) led Grove City with a second-place finish. She covered the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes, 20.18 seconds. Freshman Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) took third in 19:27.25.

Sophomore Brittany Croft (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) placed 11th overall in 20:01.77 while junior Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) took 12th (20:20.56). Freshman Julia Seward (Elizabethtown, Tenn./Science Hill) finished 13th in 20:25.06.

Grove City will compete in the Allegheny Invitational Sept. 17.
