Grove City competes at Penn State
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's cross country placed eighth out of 16 teams at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational Saturday morning.
Grove City accumulated 185 team points. Division I Yale won the title with 34 team points. Grove City finished second among the six Division III teams in attendance, trailing only sixth-place Ithaca (151).
Senior NCAA All-American Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) led Grove City with a seventh-place finish, covering the six-kilometer course in 22 minutes, 15 seconds. Freshman Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) took 23rd in 22:15 while classmate Julia Seward (Elizabethtown, Tenn./Science Hill) placed 40th in a time of 23:23.
Also for Grove City, sophomore Brittany Croft (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) finished 56th in 23:47 while junior Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) placed 59th in 23:55.
Grove City entered the week ranked second in the NCAA Mideast Region Coaches' Poll. The Wolverines will compete in the Dickinson Invitational next Saturday.
