Grove City wins 17th straight PAC title

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's cross country captured its 17th straight Presidents' Athletic Conference championship Saturday at the PAC Championships, hosted by Thiel College at Greenville Airport.

Grove City earned 21 team points, topping Waynesburg (55), Washington and Jefferson (84), Bethany (104), Thiel (133) and Westminster (137).

Senior Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) secured her fourth straight PAC individual title, winning with a time of 22 minutes, 25 seconds. Pedersen won by 59 seconds over freshman teammate Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham). Carter took second with a time of 23:24.

Freshman Julia Seward (Elizabethtown, Tenn./Science Hill) finished fourth with a time of 23:41 while junior Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) took fifth in 23:46. Sophomore Brittany Croft (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) placed ninth in 25:02 while sophomore Amanda Hewitt (Greensburg, Pa./Latrobe) finished 10th in 25:06.

Sophomore Sarah Sharp (Mountaintop, Pa./Danville) took 11th in a time of 25:12.

Pedersen, Carter, Seward and Pierce earned First Team All-PAC honors while Croft, Hewitt and Sharp earned Second Team distinction.

Grove City will compete in the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships Nov. 12 at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
