Wolverines 4th at Regional; Pedersen qualifies for NCAAs

CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's cross country placed fourth out of 42 teams at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships, hosted by Dickinson College at Carlisle High School Saturday morning. Grove City accumulated 188 team points, trailing only Dickinson (27), Haverford (148) and Elizabethtown (162).

Senior Elisa Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery), an NCAA All-American in 2004, will return to the NCAA Championships this season. She qualified for next weekend's national championships by placing fifth overall. Pedersen covered the 6-kilometer course in 22 minutes, 23.4 seconds, earning All-Region honors.

Freshman Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) placed 34th in 23:59.4 while freshman Julia Seward took 41st in 24:08.3. Sophomore Brittany Croft (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) claimed 52nd in a time of 24:26.3 while junior Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) finished 56th in 24:32.6.

Pedersen will compete in the NCAA Championships next Saturday, Nov. 19 at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
