Grove City earns 3rd at Behrend Invitational

ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's cross country team finished third at the 13-team Penn State Behrend Invitational Saturday in Erie. The Wolverines accumulated 73 team points, trailing only Case Western Reserve (21) and Mount Union (58).

Sophomore Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) led Grove City with a second-place finish overall. Carter covered the course in 18 minutes, 55.15 seconds. Case Western's Esther Erb won the individual title by 36 seconds over Carter.

Freshman Candace Coholich (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) also posted a top 10 finish, placing ninth. Coholich posted a time of 20:03.20. Junior Amanda Hewitt (Greensburg, Pa./Latrobe) took 13th overall in 20:26.80 while classmate Sarah Sharp (Mountaintop, Pa./Danville) crossed in 23rd (21:13.65).

Sophomore Elizabeth Clymer (Concord, N.H./Concord) finished 29th in 21:44.45, one spot ahead of freshman Alexandra Smith (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney). Smith posted a time of 21:48.95.

Grove City will compete in the Penn State Invitational next Saturday, September 23.
