Wolverines grab 12th at CMU

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College women's cross country team placed 12th at the 20-team Carnegie Mellon Invitational Saturday afternoon in Schenley Park. Grove City recorded 290 team points, finishing sixth among the NCAA Division III programs in attendance. George Washington University won the team title with 83 points.

Sophomore Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) paced Grove City with a seventh-place finish in the 212-runner field. Carter completed the five-kilometer course in 19 minutes, three seconds, placing second among Division III runners in the field.

Freshman Candice Coholich (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) finished 55th in a time of 20:15.26 while senior Cara Pierce (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Canton Central) crossed in 67th place (20:36.93). Junior Sarah Sharp (Mountaintop, Pa./Danville) took 84th in a time of 20:54.46 while senior Alex Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) finished 89th in 21:01.25.

Grove City will return to action Saturday, October 28 as Waynesburg College hosts the annual Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships.
