Grove City captures 3rd

OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's cross country team earned third place at Oberlin College's 26-team Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines finished with just 160 team points. Case Western won the team title with 83 points, followed by Rhodes with 117.

Four Grove City runners finished in the top 35 Saturday. Sophomore Ella Smith (Becker, Minn/Becker) paced Grove City with a 13th-place finish. Smith completed the course in 22 minutes, 40.1 seconds.

Sophomore Sara Fisher (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) earned 28th in 23:01.4 while senior Emily Pierce (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon Central) finished 29th with a time 23:02.3.

Senior Brigitte Fryan (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) earned 35th (23:09.0) and senior Kate McRoberts (Green, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) came in 55th (23:30.1).

Junior Mary Rachel Robbins (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) took 73rd in 23:51.3 and sophomore Anna Dunsworth (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) finished 84th (24:08.3).

Oberlin's Joanna Johnson won the individual race in 21:17.1.

Grove City will return to action October 30 for the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships at Waynesburg University.
