Wolverines capture 10th at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Grove City College women’s cross country team placed 10th out of 33 teams at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday morning. The Wolverines accumulated 322 team points while competing against several of the nation’s premier programs. Oberlin won the team title with 60 points.

Junior Ella Smith (Becker, Minn./Becker) led Grove City by taking 29th in the 282-runner field. Smith covered the six-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 21.8 seconds. Junior Anna Dunsworth (Erie, Pa./Strong Vincent) earned 63rd for Grove City (24:01.9), three spots ahead of sophomore Laurel Skorup (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich), who took 66th in 24:03.3.

Junior Mary Kate Breese (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) captured 87th in 24:30.7 and senior Mary Rachel Robbins (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) earned 89th with a time of 24:31.3. Sophomore Austin Powell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) placed 120th (25:05.7), two seconds ahead of sophomore Cayla Clawson (York, Pa./Central York). Clawson finished 124th.

Albion’s Lauren Kettle earned medalist honors with a victorious time of 22:23.6.

Grove City returns to action in two weeks at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships at Westminster College in New Wilmington.
